As hosts of the 2002 Tri-County Championship meet, we have been asked to address the issue of seat saving by spectators. During past championship meets, spectators have abused the practice of saving seats by blocking out rows or even large sections of the stands at GCIT for late arriving fellow club members or family. This practice has prevented even "early arrival" individual spectators from obtaining a seat in front of the competition pool.
In order to make the Tri-County Championship meet more enjoyable and to provide the best possible venue for all spectators, the following policy will be in force during all sessions of this year's meet:
Spectators will only be allowed to save one seat other than the one they occupy. Personal items such as towels, blankets, bags etc. should not be spread out to extend beyond your seat and the single seat being saved. We feel this accommodates most situations and is an equitable compromise.
There will be no seat saving allowed "between sessions" or personal items left in seats during this time as the seating area will be emptied after each session.
Signs will be posted throughout the facility including the seating area to remind attendees of this rule. Event staff will be in the stands while spectators are arriving to facilitate the enforcement of the seating policy.
Finally, Covered Bridge Swim Club requests that all attendees do their part in complying with this policy and in being considerate of others during this weekend celebrating organized youth swimming in our region.
